1 and 1/2 years old!!!

My, oh my! Does time fly!!

I still remember when she was such a tiny little baby.

At 6 months - Her lanky period

At 1 year old - A fluffy stage

Now, at 18 months!!

Any difference?

Officially a young lady =)

My good girl

I'm sure many of you remember the times when Eva used to be super-ultra-sensitive to noises such as the coffee grinder machine, etc. She would go crazy, jumping up and down, barking her head off.
Now, although some things still do drive her mad, she is so much better, and a good girl.

Want to know the trick?
It is this.

Leave it.

Leave it works for everything - an essential part of Eva's life.
She realises, if I leave it, I get a treat! Hey, isn't that clever!

We have been training her to be calm using this command and I must tell you a few stories.

In the morning, when my husband makes coffee, he has to grind the beans first. Last time, Eva would go crazy, barking her head off at 7am. Now, she goes to a down position immediately, and does a leave it until she is released. No noise, no movement.

Another incident is when my oven beeps. Nowadays, wherever I am in the house, she will find me and let me know my oven is beeping. Then she will lead me to the kitchen, sit and wait for me to do what I'm doing, and then she gets a treat! Jackpot!

When Mika is fed for his dinner, in order to stop her running about crazily, we do another leave it command. So she waits until my husband feeds Mika, comes back, and gives her the extra treat she is waiting for.

Ok, yes, she still barks at other things, like this...

But you know what, sometimes it's hard to 'leave it' when things like the lawn mower are much much more interesting!!

So here's to my good girl.
A little crazy and devilish sometimes,
But most of the time, a little angel!

Good with Children

Some people say it's a sheltie thing. They say shelties are really really good with children.

I'm not sure whether it's true but this is something that happened recently.

I took Eva back to my parents' one afternoon. As my mom does some babysitting, there are always little children or babies in the house. Since Eva visited them for the first time when she was 2-3 months old, she is very calm with them.

She has never had any problems or reactions to babies when they cry, scream, run around, etc.
She is always so gentle, and so calm!!
Not the usual sheltie growling and jumping at cats if you know what I mean when she's at home.

This time, when I took her back, a little boy (only around 10 months old) wanted to touch her.
As he crawled towards her, and start poking her nose and face gently with his hand, she lay there very still. Wary, but still...and of course, I was watching them very carefully.
He then noticed her paws and proceeded to prod them. Again, she still didn't move.
But then, he started pulling on her fur so I had to intervene, yet she still didn't move, or show any aggression, or agitation.

I was there constantly praising her.

What a good girl!

Yeah! That's our Eva girl!!!

Poofie Coat

Eva is now almost one and a half years old.
Time does fly, doesn't it?

After her spay, her coat has increased so much in volume!
It's getting harder and harder to groom her because there are just so many layers!

Here are some photos :)

Sometimes, I wonder
Where's my little puppy girl gone?

*SMILE*

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.

Did this put a smile onto your face today?

PeeS: We're sorry that we didn't  manage to visit everyone of you and leave our pawprints lately as we've been having Blogger problems from the past few days. My mom just realised that the Blogger also ate some of the comments left by my dear friends in my previous post : ((

My sweetheart Rosie is taking part in a music festival on Sunday, please cross paws for her. I guess she needs some strength and well-wishes. Thanks : ))

My bittersweet relationship with water

My friend, Reilly , is doing one of his gorgeous card giveaways again!

This time, we have to write about how I either love or hate the water.

But..can it be both?

The first time I set paws in the water was during a doggie gathering. We were allowed to use a pool at a restaurant. I don't think my humans ever had any intention of letting me get in there...I know I didn't!
But somehow, I ended up in the pool with Rosie. I can't say it was the best day of my life, although she seemed to think so. Naturally, as a sheltie I am, I doggy-paddled without much trouble but I still hated the fact that my beautiful coat was getting all wet!

With Rosie in the pool

Well, that was my first experience with water. Not really a pleasant one, I must add!

After my Uncle Mika's car accident and FHO surgery, the humans bought him a tank for him to swim in.
He HATED it and boohoo for him, because he had to swim EVERYDAY!

Whenever he was in the water, I could hear him from wherever I was in the house. I would always be barking and trying to get in too! I really enjoyed swimming in the tank...and I learnt a couple of new tricks in it!

YEAH! Pretty cool huh? Takes real skill to do that!

The tank, I LOVED swimming in.

The sea, not so much.

The first time I went to the beach,
it took me ages to get used to having water in my feet, and even then, I dared not stray too far.

The second time I went to the beach,
nothing changed.
I still hated getting my pawsies wet!

Teehee! Methinks I look like a ballerina here!

P.S. I still hate my baths.

Hi and a welcome

Dear friends,

I'm so sorry for not posting much recently.

I have been so busy guarding the house, supervising the housework,
scolding the cats, and pleasing the humans!
I just haven't had the time to go on the computer and BLOG!

Did you miss me?

It's been raining a lot these past few weeks.
I seldom have the time to go out and do my outdoor activities,
but when the rain stops, a big smile spreads on my face!

Can I tell you a little secret?

Although I always bark at the thunder just like my momma used to,
I think I am a bit scared of it. It is always so loud that it shakes the whole house.
When mommy and daddy are around me, I can be really brave and bark at it,
but I still hide under their feet.

But when they're gone, I feel so very uncomfortable so I go into my crate.
Do any of you have similar problems?
Mommy and daddy never comfort me either!
They say that it isn't good to reinforce my behaviour but cuddling me when I'm scared.

I've never heard of anything more outrageously silly!

There is also some really exciting news in Blogville!

A new sheltie puppy has entered into the blogging spirit.

Meet CHEWY!

I have to say, he IS pretty cute!

And he's just like me!
He's got a fetish for tails :) BOL

No idea what that is?

This is what I mean!

I think if we met, we'd be best buddies chasing each other's tails around.

I still LOVE my Uncle Mika's tail, and he always allows me to
pull it around. What a gentleman he is!

See ya around!

A new doggie bed for the princess ^^

It is hard to get some decent coffee around here.
However, today we went to a small coffee shop to have our breakfast and some deliciously brewed cappuccinos.

We also got Eva a new bed because hers is getting a bit too small for her.
Hopefully she likes her new bed just as much!

Well, she definitely looks CUTE in it!!!

(Pictures above taken from my phone)

Still taking pictures?

Can't you see I'm tired?

Humans really can be annoying sometimes!

I give up...
