Do I have a child at home?

Today a friend dropped by to  borrow some food containers from me, her friend, Kim was with her too. It was the first time I met Kim but we had a short yet interesting chat.

Half way through our not-knowing-each-other but trying-to-make-friendly conversation, this came out:

Kim:  So when is your girl coming home?
Me:   She will be home in December.
Kim:  Uh! Why December?
Me:   Oh, she's in a boarding school.
Kim:  Isn't she too young for boarding school? (She sounds a bit not approved here)
Me:   Well, she's quite okay with it.
Kim:  But she needs you! You're her mom! (Her voice was a BIT high now)
Me:   Ummm.. it had been tough in the beginning but we've pulled through it.

She then gave me a look which made me feel really uncomfortable.  You know those evil stares like Eva's, that's something like hers? It's as if I had done something really wrong.

Me:   My daughter is 16 now. I think she knows how to take care of herself.
Kim: 16? Really? I thought she was a LITTLE girl!!!!
Me:   No way! (I chuckled. It must be 10 years ago then)

(My friend finally came out from the kitchen and joined in the last part of the conversation. She laughed but confirmed that my daughter is 16 years old)

Kim: Oh, I'm so sorry! I saw the toys and I thought your child was in the nursery.

TOYS???
Alas! I got it at last!

LOL!!!

My house is full of toys! Toys are everywhere: in the kitchen, living room, study room, you name it, they are there. I found Eva's bouncy balls in the toilet a couple of time too. Don't ask me how they got there : )

However, I'm puzzled!

Do her toys look like human puppies' toys?

You Bet!

Oh my gosh, that's hilarious. I'm looking around our living room right now to find all sorts of toys - they aren't mine - they are Hubby's - children are grown adults - why the toys? Because we are also in love with two of the most adorable little "girls" I have ever known. Give Eva a hug!

That would explain why we have enough laundry, vacuuming and toys laying around for two kids!

Isn't that the truth! All the toys that they, our little darlings, they have such fun toting around the house. The toy basket where we try to pile them at the end of the day. I can fully see how anyone could see them as children's toys. I have kids who come over and assume they are for them to play with.

What a funny story! (Although that woman might have gone too far in her repremanding of you-I wouldn't say that to my best friend!)

And that last picture of Eva is priceless!

LOL. What a great story!

Seems to me as though Rosie is quite the mature, accomplished young lady, and boarding school has done her well. We're all a bit proud of her :)

A little princess can never have to many toys and they are MEANY to look like human toys - because she is a little human in a furry coat isn't she :)

ROFL!! This was just the laugh I needed today! We have that same squid looking toy, it was meeka's and it was purple. I'm sure she would have loved Eva's pink one better tho. Thanks for the chuckle!:))

Hee hee! Mom always gets aggravated with the kids in Dad's family because they come over and want to play with all our toys!

Seriously? I have no doubt those are YOUR toys.

My momma gets confused when human pups that she knows are suddenly grown up. Can't imagine why.

Toys all over here too!!

Well at least you have a 16 year old to create the confusion. No kids here, but there are toys everywhere. Then there are the human toys from when the nieces/nephews visit. We are a strange house.

that is so funny, funny how people get such different perceptions when they see just one little thing they think proves their theory, LOL

I love your toys. Your fox toy looks a lot like mine. I wish I had more toys -- I hope Santa brings me more toys for Christmas. I've been nice to my little brother (for the most part.)
