Why do dogs chase their tails?

Facts:
There are a number of dog lovers and experts who believe that dogs chase their tails for one reason.
  • The dogs are bored. Essentially, there is nothing going on that captures the dog’s attention. When the animal catches sight of the tail on the edges of the line of vision, the movement captures the attention of the dog. The idea that the tail is attached is not really a consideration, but the movement and the chance for some physical and mental activity is attractive. If your dogs chase their tails frequently, it may be time to provide some other amusements that will occupy the pet’s attention.
  • Dogs may also choose to chase their tails because there is physical discomfort of some type. Fleas may be present on the tip or the base of the tail. It is also possible that some sort of irritation in the area of the anus is causing itching or some other form of discomfort.

All these facts may be true. But one thing's for sure. Eva doesn't just chase her own tail.
She LOVES tails. She'll grab her mother's tail, she'll grab Mika's tail, she'll grab Rosie's ponytail, but she can't grab Laura's tail, because Laura doesn't have a tail :) HAHAHA.

Her mother's tail...

Mika's tail (it's pretty unusual ain't it?)

She also LOVES grabbing her tail and eating the hair.... :S
*double ewwww*

Is it really that yummy? She does look pretty satisfied with herself here.

Interes"tail" info... Eva has tail fetish, huh!... part and parcel of a pup growing period, I guess... my tail is tightly curled over my back, so I can't really grab it. Thanks for the review.

Misty was just chasing her tail this morning! She does it a lot. That's too funny.

I love those chicken soup books. I'll have to look for that one.

I'm not a big tail-chaser - Eva does look cute doing it though! But of course, she looks cute doing anything! Thanks for the book recommendation - we'll have to get it!

Just when I think Eva can't get any cuter! What a funny fetish!

Thanks for clarifying the frog legs for me. I'd never heard of that, but glad you let me know!

Well, I don't have much of a tail, Eva, but you can sure come over and catch it for me. :-)

Eva - you're so cute and funny!Maybe you're just trying to get everyone's attention by tugging on their tail? I tried grabbing the cat's tail once...just once....wasn't a good experience for me....

Hi Eva!

Thanks for the interesting read. You are too cute to chase your tail. The piappies don't usually chase their tails maybe because they are too busy to chase each other across the terrace.

We'll also try to find the book you have featured. Weeeeee!
