My bittersweet relationship with water

My friend, Reilly , is doing one of his gorgeous card giveaways again!

This time, we have to write about how I either love or hate the water.

But..can it be both?

The first time I set paws in the water was during a doggie gathering. We were allowed to use a pool at a restaurant. I don't think my humans ever had any intention of letting me get in there...I know I didn't!
But somehow, I ended up in the pool with Rosie. I can't say it was the best day of my life, although she seemed to think so. Naturally, as a sheltie I am, I doggy-paddled without much trouble but I still hated the fact that my beautiful coat was getting all wet!

With Rosie in the pool

Well, that was my first experience with water. Not really a pleasant one, I must add!

After my Uncle Mika's car accident and FHO surgery, the humans bought him a tank for him to swim in.
He HATED it and boohoo for him, because he had to swim EVERYDAY!

Whenever he was in the water, I could hear him from wherever I was in the house. I would always be barking and trying to get in too! I really enjoyed swimming in the tank...and I learnt a couple of new tricks in it!

YEAH! Pretty cool huh? Takes real skill to do that!

The tank, I LOVED swimming in.

The sea, not so much.

The first time I went to the beach,
it took me ages to get used to having water in my feet, and even then, I dared not stray too far.

The second time I went to the beach,
nothing changed.
I still hated getting my pawsies wet!

Teehee! Methinks I look like a ballerina here!

P.S. I still hate my baths.

Eva you are so darn cute! Of course a princess doesn't like to mess up her hair and get it all wet.

Your tank is more like a spa, that must be why you like swimming there.

Maybe you don't like the salt water at the sea shore - too sticky and smelly for a pretty girl like you!

LOL, all very cute!!

That were pawsome photos little Miss Eva - and I could see that you are not fond of water but I am so glad you shared with us and you look so darn cute in your little life jacket!

What great pictures of you in the water!
Even though our breed is known for being water rescue dogs we still haven't made up our minds yet if we like water!

Eva, you are just so cute!! Holly doesn't like getting in the water either. She will smell it and wants to run the other way. She hates baths too. Your coat is so beautiful....who would want to get it wet! Lots of love, Debbie & Holly

Eva you might not like the Ocean but you sure look pretty in front of it! I think Sara is onto something with the observation the tank is like a spa ;-)

I bet that tank cools you off on a hot day. Kelly loves swimming in the lake, but won't get in her little backyard plastic pool.

You must be part Newfoundland -- we are water dogs, you know....funny you don't look like a Newfoundland....

Katy is eyeing your vest.

Bailey says he had no issue with the water until he was visiting his Golden Retreiver cousins and they ganged up on him to push him in their family swimming pool. Ever since then he has been afraid of pools, lakes, etc. Katy has never met the goldens or been near a pool.

Eva you are such a little Diva!!! lol

You don't like getting your little paws wet!! You are sooo cute!

My fave photo is the one with the life jacket...you are too adorable!

I think you like the tank better because it is confined and doesn't scare you as much with all of the water around you. The other places might be too big and frightening?

You looked extraordinarily satisfied beyond description in the water tank:)

OH silly Eva, the sea is AWESOME!!! Infact, better than the tank (we have one too!) You have no idea what you're missing girl.

Hiya Eva! You're much braver than us, we hate water in any form and even step around a puddle! With all your water experiences we're sure you're in with a good chance in the competition - good luck! Dex & Louis xxx

Oh Eva, you are too cute in Mika's tank!!! Mabel hates baths too!

Well, baths are totally different than swimming in a lake. And the surf is scary! What is with those crashing waves??
I would have no reason to swim in the lake if it wasn't to fetch my beloved ball or stick. Well, sometimes I have to go swim just to be near mom. She likes to swim even with out toys. What's the point in that ?

Well, you might not always like the water, but you always look good. I like the ballerina look on you, Eva. None of my pups appreciate water, in the tub, at the beach, or anywhere else. :)

Yes, you don't look too happy about the water. It's good to get in some swim lessons though, never know when it might come in handy!

You look like you were doing a synchronized routine in the water tank, Eva... and that takes plenty of skill ;)

I like to swim in the open sea or pool but I have not tried swimming in a tank though. Perhaps one day I will pay you a visit and we can swim together in the tank... hehe.

I'm the opposite! I hate a bath, but I love getting in the ocean! Playing in the water is fun, getting your stink washed off, not so fun!

Eva - you are sure cute! (I have a bittersweet relationship with water too.) I HATE getting a bath, but I like running through puddles. Go figure!

I'm so glad I found your blog! You posted on my friend's blog- and I love shelties... so I just followed you here! Good to meet you! =)

Tee hee!

Like a the sheltie you are, of course you are a natural! That is no surprise. According to my trainer, teaching a Sheltie to do something is a very simple recipe: Just add water! ;-)

The Eva can swim!
Qoo is still inexperienced.
Because I dislike water, I do not think that I can swim.
The Eva swims very comfortably!
But do you dislike the bath?
That is already summer!

Maybe Eva does like the water, but not the sand at the beach?

It looks like you have a life jacket when you're in that tank, how cool !
The only time we tolerate having wet fur is when it's raining and Dad takes us for a walk - we always tell him that rain is not an excuse for not taking us for a walk !

Those are some beautiful water shots. :)
