Grooming your dog

I've noticed that many people have commented on how Eva was always so perfectly groomed in the photos.

The reason we groom her is not because of the photos we are taking.

The main reason is because dogs (especially furry ones like Eva) shed a lot and if we don't groom them and remove all that dead hair, her fur is going to be flying around in our home a lot more than it already is. And yes, I know many of you are pretty used to seeing dog fur covering everything and to be honest, so am I now. However, before we had Eva, the dogs have stayed outside and were never allowed in.

I guess now I have to explain further on dogs staying outside as many might think it is abusive...
In Malaysia, the climate stays the same all year round, so there are no cold winters EVER.
MOST dogs in Malaysia live outside in their humans' compounds. MOST people in Malaysia live in a gated house, which means that the compound is fully fenced. Many people keep dogs to guard the house as robbery is very common.

I always said I'll NEVER have a dog in the house.
Guess you cannot ever say never.

So I do get bothered when I see furballs flying around and always try and pick them up.

Which is why I do this...

Eva used to be (as a puppy) a little wretch when it came to grooming.
She would run away and not let you catch her...wriggle out of your arms.
Now she's pretty good with it. We groom daily - 10 to 15 minutes is all it takes!

Which is why you always see her like this :)

Not only does it keep the fur to a minimum in your house it keeps Eva looking beautiful. It is so much easier to stay on top of grooming if you just take a few minutes a day. I bet Eva's glad you changed the "no dog in the house" rule! :)

and that's why Eva looks always soooo beautiful!
Well, Mom usualy groom me on the saturdays and sundays, but I have to admit that if she did that every day she won't have so much fur at home .....

I hope my mom didn't read this - I sure don't want her to know Eva gets brushed every day! It will give her ideas! LOL!

I've been trying to groom Chewy more often, just so I can spend less time cleaning fur off the couch!

Eva always looks beautiful.

Removing all that loose hair also helps to keep her cool in that warm climate. She does always look beautiful though :)

Oh yes, you can imagine how many furballs are flying around our house. Mom does try to groom us regularly, but with four it isn't easy. And some of us cooperate better than others:)

But Eva ALWAYS looks gorgeous.

Happy weekend.

Good for you for being persistent so that Eva is happy to be groomed. I have to think that once dogs get over the shock of being handled that it feels pleasant and stimulating.

Lucky Eva to be indoors, but, yes, dog hair is difficult to live with.

Boy I hear you about the dogs and grooming with five long haired dogs and three cats....now that we have hard floors I see how much hair is floating around, it is easier to get but easier to see and I'm amazed how much hair sheds without lots of grooming :-)
