How do you stay calm?

Do you like those passing by objects like bikes, trucks, school buses and the stray dogs? I never like them as I find them really really annoying; they are nuisance.
Therefore, whenever I sense them coming, I try to protect my mom and of course, my own territory.

But Mom says I always over-react to them and she thinks I should learn TO STAY CALM ADMIDST CHAOS! I think she is completely crazy!

Do you think she expect me to stay smiling like this when some intruders are in your territory?

NO WAY, right?
That's why I did this in the afternoon.

Mom wasn't happy with me at all.
She sent me in the house immediately, and I gave her this look.

I refused to talk and play with her even though I knew she REALLY wanted to play with me.
I pretended I was tired and continued my beauty sleep.

Mom thought I was asleep and she left me BUT I was actually awake and I really wanted to play with her.

Oh Mom, it's really hard.

Can anyone tell me HOW to stay calm admidst chaos?

Hope all of you have a great weekend and play happily with your humans!

Number one rule - when we do that mom doesn't tell us off......she distracts us my taking our minds off the offending intrusion to our space.......a quick game of ball, some training treats, playing and eventually we learned not to care about 'outside' stuff. Hope it helps :)

I am with you Eva! All of those things - bikes, cars, etc. - need to be taken care of. You and I would make a perfect pair!

I think your Momma is lucky to have such a beautiful protector Eva. But boy that picture at the gate.....you look pretty darn serious. I'm sure you be back to playing with your Momma and enjoying a fun weekend! :)

I don't get bothered by things like that, but Morgan does! If you find the secret, maybe you can share it with her!

Eva, my mommy has learned to tune out most of my constant barking and reacting to stuff. The picture of you barking at the gate --- Mommy said that looks just like me -- because I'm always barking!

My dogs tend to side with you, Eva! Especially Bentley. I think I could stand outside with a whole turkey and he'd still want to bark and protect the yard!

Homeland Security is a very important job. I have trained my human to be understanding of my need to bark my head off. It's a hard life! My you do look beautiful when annoyed. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly

As a Sheltie your instinct is to round up and protect. A Sheltie can be a tad super sensitive to sounds, therefore the "woofing" and "protecting" comes in! Ella and I are the exact same, to be honest I'm worse! Have a good weekend Khandi x

Oh, Eva. I feel for you. You're a Work In Progress!! Just like me. Just like the rest of us!! Habits are hard to break sometimes!! Trust me on that one!! Tell your Mom to be patient!! ;-}
I'm baaack!! I haven't any clue as to where I went--life's busy goings-on's took me away--but I'm back!! ;-]
How do I stay calm? Uh.... I punch the air. Seriously!! Whenever I feel as though every joint within my body is tense, I slip into my bedroom, close the door, and rapidly punch nothing!! I pretend that I'm some trained martial artist!! I am not. I'm just a faker, terrified that one day I'll injure myself!! So far so good.... ;op
Love, Raelyn.... And Rose, my BEAUTIFULLY UNIQUE "Mystery Dog"!!

Mom thinks it is in your nature to get excited by those things. Maybe it is the louder noise that stimulates your ears too much. She had a Sheltie once who would race the fence when all the boys were out riding their Big Wheels with the clickety clackers on the back wheels. Then the fire engines and police cars and ambulances would set him off too.

No worries, though, you are still beautiful.

That last picture of you is priceless, Eva! We surely can't be giving out advice because we can't stay calm ourselves!

Oh Eva, You remind me of the Mabel Lou... She was off leash for the first time in ages this morning and she took off after a coyote! She kept me and the rottrovers waiting and waiting! When she came home, I ignored her for a good long while and made her think she wasn't gonna get any breakie! We Mommas have to stick together!!!
