We often call it a lizard but you may probably relate the word to a huge monitor lizard or something similar.
I even shudder looking at this picture. |
Few days ago, my daughter screamed from the kitchen.
Apparently, Eva had found a lizard and had given chase.
Actually, no.
She had caught the lizard in her mouth! And probably out of fright, dropped it, and then stepped on it's tail, where it proceeded to squeal, sending Rosie off screaming (she's terrified of lizards) because Eva had just cut off half of it's tail!
(P.S. Lizard tails grow back after they're broken so it isn't the end of the world).
Since then, whenever Eva sees a lizard, she will chase it and even attempt to run under a car (don't worry, the car has its engine off!!!) for it!
We will be away for a few days, so we apologise in advance for not being able to visit your blogs!

AWWW!!! I think that lizard is ADORABLE! That's so cute. I would love to have them. We don't have them here, but I heard in Puerto Rico (I guess technically part of USA) they also have those lizards. I heard they're very useful in eating bugs, so that you could leave windows open year-round and not need to worry about bugs coming in the house.
Layla caught a frog once. I got her to drop it, but I think he broke a leg :( hopefully he was okay.
Thanks for posting the picture - I love those lizards!
You go girl!!!
Have a nice weekend!
Eva! I just posted yesterday about one of the hundreds of lizards we have living in our backyard. This one was a MONSTER!
Don't eat them, 'cause I don't think they're good for a doggie's tummy!
Oh! I've seen some tails around too *cough* ;)
Woofs & hugs,
~Bailey
Good job, Eva!
My mom screams too when she sees a lizard!
hmmm....
Have fun!
Kisses and hugs

Mom used to always put those outside when she found them in her office building. She got bit by one once (it didn't hurt, but it pinched!) and it was very difficult to get it to let go!

Mom would be screaming too if there were a gecko in the house! I am proud of Eva for catching it! :)
Have a great trip!!
ewwwwwwwwwww!!! I don't like them either!! I would be screaming too! Eva is a brave girl chasing them and ewwwwww biting off their tail!!
Hope you have a wonderful holiday!!
xoxo
OH Eva, your house will surely be safe from cats and Lizards with you on duty, you are a very good guard dog, they need to pay you a salary for your work! HAVE FUN on your trip!!!
With two cats at home, i rarely see a lizard with its tail still attached... and don't count the times I found detached tails still wagging, eeek :-)
Urgh.
Sapphire would chase them too. Then would roll over on it!
Eeeeeeek!
Eva, fearless lizard hunter of the east! You go girl!
Enjoy your little vacation. Can't wait to see the photos :)
Excellent hunting skills. We have lots of creatures, but no lizards.
Eva you are so brave. Mom is terrified of snakes and expects us to be brave. She is so disappointed when we run behind her to be protected.

You are a brave protector! I love little geckos like this one - they eat all the bugs that bite :)
Whats it taste like Eva!!!
Enjoy your time away.

Mabel has a fascination with lizards at the creek. So does our friend Bart!
River is a lizard killer! He has killed about 2 or 3 lizards in the past. If he sees one on the wall, he would leap right onto it & grab the lizard off the wall & starts...well...nibbling on it ALIVE! Sounds horrible, I know. Who asked those lizards to invade our home & hang around 5 large doggies in the 1st place? They're only asking for it!
I think it is very likely the lizard shed its own tail to get away from Eva. But good job pal! Next time, you & River should go lizard hunting together.
Eva keeping the house clean of pests, clever girl. Enjoy your time away :)
My one chihuahua keeps trying to get the lizards but they are to fast for her. Great job Eva!
We're with Rosie - we think lizards are icky and ugly, even though we hardly ever see them where we live.
Love ya lots
Maggie and Mitch
Eva, I would be screaming too if I saw a lizard and Holly would be chasing it!! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly
Well done Eva !
Yikes!!
Mommy's terrified of lizards!
Me i just like to paw them!
Cheers,
Maxx
Eva is truly fearless to grab the lizard as she did. Good thing the tail will grow back though--so Eva can do it again, BOL

I think I would scream too! Have fun in whatever you do! Enjoy!
We don't have lizards but Kelly chases (and catches) snakes. yuck!
Wow, those lizards sound yummy and fun to chase!! I chase frogs. They don't taste good. I might need to try lizards...
Oh, I wouldn't like having the lizard in my house either. Sounds like Eva was taking care of business and having fun doing it!
