Beach Trip - Part 2

Luckily for us, there were no other visitors with dogs, and not many other visitors, therefore we got the whole beach to ourselves without any worries!!!

Get ready for ............ Offleash beach fun!!!!!

We were at first quite worried about going off-leash with Eva since she has a pretty unreliable recall.
However, I brought some tasty treats along with me and made sure she knew that I had them so whenever she came to me, she got her share! 95% of the time, she stuck very close to us, although once, she ran off with a jogger on the beach (but then came back in the end!).

Let's start with a game of frisbee!!
Got it!
Playing with Rosie
Hmmm....I wonder what seawater tastes like?

My conclusion? Seawater is salty and now I'm thirsty!

But why worry when life is great?

Okay! I'm going in now!

Woops...I think I've gone in too deep!

Might as well have fun since I'm in here already!

Kinda wet!! Woopsies!

Still not tired!!!!!

As you can see, by the end of the day, Eva started to love the water! She went crazy for it!!! Here's a funny video for you :)

She's our brave little pup!
On the first day, she was terrified of getting her little feet wet! Getting her that deep is an accomplishment!

Those are some super nice pics of Eva and Rosie... the sea is quite rough during this time but Eva is such a brave girl. I bet the next time you're there, Eva will be swimming in the ocean ;)

What wonderful, fun photos! Eva clearly got over any fears of the water.

I left you a comment on my blog, but copied it for you here too:

Here is a link to all the information about Relaxation Protocol:
http://www.dogscouts.org/Protocol_for_relaxation.html

I always have oreo sit on his "mat" during the exercises. This really lets him know that "oh yea, we're doing this relaxing thing now." You could use a towel or a blanket.

If it is easier for you to listen to the tasks, rather than read them off a piece of paper, hear is a link to some mp3 versions:

http://championofmyheart.com/relaxation-protocol-mp3-files/

It only takes us about 5-7 minutes a day. Might be harder for Eva, because she is still quite young.

We've done 17 sessions now, and Oreo really seems to like settling and relaxing for those 5 minutes.

OH MY! How I enjoyed this!! I have the biggest smile on my face!
Your photos are just beautiful! The one with Eva looking like she is going to drink the sea water kind of looks like she is looking at her reflection.
Where did you find such a wonderful water container for her? I would love to get one like that.
My husband and I were marvelling at your video and Eva's antics. Shelties play in such a cute and clownish way. My husband said "If I didn't know I would think that was Dakota".
I soooo enjoy your photos and your videos and your entire blog!
Thanks so much for sharing Eva with us!

Hi Priscilla - I was just making a list of everyone who is participating in the training challenge and I wasn't sure from your comment if you wanted to do it or not? No pressure, I just didn't want to leave you out if you are in - :)

Pure fun! Every one of your shots captured the day so well. I especially like Eva's play bow and the shot of Eva and Rosie running together. I need to plan a beach trip soon!

You're a lot braver than me! I am not a big fan of the water and when we go to the lake, I make sure not to get too close to anything that would lead to me possibly getting wet!!

As soon as I saw the title of your blog on Blog Hop Saturday I knew I would have to check it out! I have a Sheltie too, named Jasper. He is quite a character too.

Eva looks a lot like my first Sheltie. Simply gorgeous!

I don't know if Eva chases the waves at the beach, but my Jasper does. Here's a link to a post I did on a dog park on the Mississippi River. It has some videos showing him herding the waves. People just stand back and watch him sometimes because he is so crazy!

So glad I found your blog!
