Our little swimmer

We took Eva to a doggy gathering today at a restaurant. They had a swimming pool that was specially open for the dogs today. We didn't really expect to take Eva swimming, but somehow we did.

She's a natural born swimmer!! She was swimming the moment she hit the water - at first clumsy like an elephant, but then graceful like a ... sheltie?

Our little baby is swimming!

I wouldn't say she enjoyed the water because she would always try to get out, but she finally accepted it and swam around with Rosie.
It was good water therapy for her hind legs anyway.

Here's a video of them swimming.
Sorry about the weird color, it seems like the camera dial was moved accidentally so that it was videoing in a different color mode.

After swimming, a relaxing time in the restaurant.

An update on Mika:
His surgery was successful. The vet called us last night to say that he was bleeding a bit more than usual, but still under the tolerance level. He is half bald now but when we went to visit him this morning, he was his usual happy self. Hopefully, if everything goes well, he'll be home tomorrow!

What a great swim! Eva is really a swimmer! If it is Bingo or Benji, I bet they will have their tails between their legs! Eva is so great at keeping her head above the water!

Sooo adorable! Rosie is a natural at giving swimming lessons! She was so reassuring to Eva...(Eva didn't look too thrilled as you said but yes it is good therapy for her!)

I wish we had restaurants/pools here that let us bring our Sheltie, what a great idea!

Wonderful, wonderful news about Mika!! I am sooo happy that he is on the mend!

Thanks for sharing such a wonderful post with us, more prayers and healing wishes to Mika!

We were there too but missed you gals as we arrived quite late... Eva is such a natural swimmer, she can really doggy paddle well considering it's her first swim. Glad to hear Mika's surgery was a success. Hope he'll recover fast.

What an awesome swimmer you are, Eva! That must have been great fun to do that with Rosie. I've just caught up on Mika's injury. I hope the surgery does the trick, and I'm glad he's doing well post surgery. We will keep him in our thoughts.

Eva, I'm so glad you had fun swimming! I wish I could find a place where they'd let me swim like that!

We're so glad to hear that Mika is recovering, too!

Good news about Mika!! You are so lucky that places are dog friendly. I went to a nice park today and when I got there, "No pets allowed". Ugh!! Diana

That's great news about Mika! Glad to know he is his usual happy self even going through this huge ordeal.

Eva is a natural swimmer! Gosh, she swims way better than me (I splash a lot) and you're right - it's good for her back legs.

Eva didn't look thrilled, but she was watching Rosie and knew she was safe with her!

Good news about Mika! I hope he gets to come home tomorrow!

Way to go Eva! You do look like a pro out there.

Glad to hear the surgery went well. Hope they can get the bleeding under control and Mika back home in no time at all. :)

It's amazing how naturally dogs can swin - they don't even need lessons! Ben got scared of the sea... so he doesn't like water now!

How fun! A sheltie that swims, very cool. My collies don't swim. :) I want to get Jet in the water but we don't have many opportunities.... well, any, so far this summer. :(

Look at her go! What a cutie. That's awesome that the restaurant made the pool available for pups.

I loved seeing her swim!

The video looked very cool - it looked like it was intentionally filmed to look artistic or something.

Also, very cool that you guys were able to have a meeting at a restaurant. There aren't a lot of restaurants locally that allow dogs, or even ones that have outdoor seating to take them.

I'm so glad that Mika came through surgery okay. I hope he comes home soon!

I'm glad to hear some good news about Mika. I hope he continues to do well.

Eva is too cute swimming! It is great getting her started young. Maybe she will learn to love it like Lian's shelties!
