When there were four ...

This is, believe it or not, the only picture with all four dogs together.

I think the picture is pretty much self-explanatory.

summer has gone by so fast...

It's time for Rosie to go back to school in the UK.

Mika here is going to miss her the most because she is his guardian angel.

Now for a Mika update...

He went to the vet today for a check-up. He was his usual all excited self, so happy to see the vet and his assistant. The vet said he is alright and is healing fine.

 Of course he's fine. This picture will prove it to you.

Who knew he could dig three-legged too!

I would also like to bring your attention to a little poem we found from our newfie friends, Leroy and Sherman. It is a beautiful poem and I would love to share it all with you. (I've also added it in my sidebar on the right so you can always read it :D)

My Dogs Live Here

My dogs live here, they're here to stay.
You don't like pets, be on your way.
They share my home, my food, my space.
This is their home, this is their place.

You will find dog hair on the floor, they will
alert you're at the door. They may request a
little pat, a simple 'no' will settle that.

It gripes me when I hear you say 'just how is
it you live this way? they smell, they shed, they're
in the way..' WHO ASKED YOU? is all I can say..

They love me more than anyone, my voice is like
the rising sun, they merely have to hear me say 'C'mon ,
time to go and play' then tails wag and faces grin,
they bounce and hop and make a din.

They never say 'no time for you', they're always there, to GO and DO.

And if I'm sad? They're by my side and if I'm mad?
they circle wide and if I laugh, they laugh with me
they understand, they always see.

So once again, I say to you come visit me, but know this too..

My dogs live here, they're here to stay.
You don't like pets, be on your way.
They share my home, my food,
my space this is their home,
this is their place..

Award

We received an award from our friend, George. Now, this award said that I have to share 7 things about myself that you don't already know. So I thought and thought and I realised that you know basically everything about Eva! So for this award, we'll tell you about Laura our baby girl.

Thanks George the Lad!
  1. Laura understood "Do you want to go out?" perfectly well. If you asked her, she would immediately get up from her sleep and run towards you wagging her tail and whimpering.
  2. On walks, especially when she got older, she would be stubborn on which roads she would want to take and if she thought she didn't have enough exercise, she wouldn't want to go home. And I mean, a few lanes before reaching our house, if she knew that was where we were heading, she would stop and would not budge!
  3. We never socialised her with dogs. (I know, that's terrible! Especially since she's a rottie, but we didn't know then!) But when we went to dogathon last year, she was perfectly alright with everyone sniffing her butt! She was the smallest rottie there, and the oldest (and wisest!).
  4. If someone was walking up our road, she would not just bark when they passed our house, she would bark from when they started up our road until they left the road!
  5. A few times, when our gate didn't close properly and we didn't notice (it's an automatic gate), Laura would still be at home (although she did wander out a few times, but we always found her back). There was once when we were out at night and it was raining heavily, we came back finding the gate open, called Laura and there she was hiding at the back of the house!
  6. Oh did I mention, she's terrified of thunder!!! She used to be so scared, she would hide in the rain! That's until Mika came, of course. She HAD to pretend to be brave!
  7. Laura is my husband's dog all the way. His little girl. When I'm doing the sweeping and I'm asking her to move, she would continue to lie there and pretend nothing is happening. But when my husband tells her to move, she'll get up and move!

We are meant to pass this award to 15 bloggers but I've decided to pass it to all my blogging buddies and whoever wants to post 7 things about themselves, please feel free to do so!

(almost) Wordless Wednesday #16

Many of you have been asking "What's Sheltieland?".
No. There's no place called sheltieland. If there were, Eva would be going there everyday! LOL.
The woman we adopted Hana from is a sheltie breeder and owns 6 beautiful shelties (among whom is Eva's daddy) therefore Rosie decided to call it Sheltieland :D

For our wordless wednesday, I decided to post up this picture in memory of our beloved rottie who was extremely selfish with her toys :)

It's been awhile

I've finally managed to get internet for a little update here.

First of all, thank you everybody for your beautiful condolences to Laura. You really made us all cry.
I think she's happy and resting in the rainbow bridge now.

My trip in England has been fun. I met up with Lian twice and got to see her shelties, including the newcomer Ms. Sipzie!!! It was a very exciting experience and I learnt a lot of neat tricks from Lian too :) We'll be back on Tuesday, so in no time Eva will be learning new stuff for tricky t-days!!

This is Sipzie. Isn't she a beauty?

While walking in the common, guess who I met?
Rem ... is that you?? The first newfie I met :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Back home in Malaysia, my husband has been faithfully doing all the "dogwork" I do with Eva like the daily grooming and obedience training :)
Her fur has grown even more, and her face has changed again. Every day she starts looking more and more like her mommy.
She has also decided to claim her position as Lady of the house.
Laura has gone to join Hana
~From Rosie to Laura~
I'm sorry I never got to say bye to you
And feel your fur in my face.
But the heavens open up to you
Where you'll find your happy place.
Thank you for being so gentle and patient with little Eva no matter how much she annoyed you.
Eva loved you the most - you were really a grandma to her. No matter how grumpy, she always wanted you.
You showed everybody what a rottie could be. You proved those pessimistic ones wrong.
I will remember our love for food and those times when you swallowed but didn't chew, we were so worried you'd get indigestion.
I will remember your terrible sense of smell but you could always tell when it was chicken feet for tea.
Would we have another dog that would respond to "Do you want to go out?"
When you pricked up your ears and tilted your head, you were the most beautiful.
I'm going to miss your fierce bark and that non stop noise you made until the people went out of your sight.
I don't care if they say you are not a show dog. A show dog may be pretty on the outside but on the inside, do they have beautiful heart? But you do and that's what made you so special.
Thank you for making my doggy dream come true. I think you were the best first dog anyone could ever have.
Run free and wild in the rainbow bridge, my darling.
We miss you so much.
RIP Laura
(10 March 2000 - 1 July 2010)
She left us peacefully in her sleep without suffering. That's the most we could ask for.
Puppy's Fun
Greetings everyone! Princess Eva here!
After listening to your advice on giving Grandma Laura her own toy, my humans found a frisbee for her.
She looks happy with it, don't you think?
But then, I looked at Mr Penguin...
and at grandma's frisbee...
And I just could not decide which one I wanted more!
So I pleaded with her to just let me try her frisbee just for once!
But she grabbed it tightly and said.... "NO"
Later in the day, she growled at me for annoying her!
And gave me the evil stare.
I got pretty upset but grandmas can be moody most of the time as I have learnt.
My humans also built me my first ever jump!
Don't you think it's so cool?
I love it!!!!
Hope there will be more soon and we can make an agility course in the garden.
In fact, we already have 2x2 poles, a tunnel and a jump!
Laura and Eva
To me, it's just amazing how Laura and Eva get along with each other or I should say, Laura is so patient with puppy Eva. Imagine a lofty 10 years old rottie and a hyperactive 6 months old puppy! No doubt, Laura can be pretty grumpy sometimes but I think she's the most patient and gentle rottie that I've ever known so far.
Eva adores Laura so much!
Laura loves toys since puppyhood. The only problem of playing with her is I can never get back the toy from her once she has it. She will keep it beside her, watch it and will never let us have it back. Our games always stopped that way because we just couldn't continue it. It was my fault too as I didn't know how to play with her ( I just learned how to play with doggy when I took Eva to the OB class, sigh : ( )
My trainer told me that I should play with Eva as it's a very good and effective way of building up a good bond with her so I started to learn the tricks of playing from him. My my, it's no child's play at all : )
So, we started to play in the garden and we enjoyed it very much. I'm panting and gasping for air most of the time after those runs but Eva girl never shows any sign of tiredness at all!
Eva loves playing!!!
However, we also realised our Laura girl is interested in our games too. In the beginning, she would just join in and grab the toy away from Eva. We then had to call off the game because Laura kept the toy so tight with her and we couldn't get it away from her at all.  Oh I don't think I need to tell you how stubborn Laura can be!
Laura says,'It's mine!'
After a few counselling sessions,  Laura now understands she cannot snatch the toy from Eva and she cannot be rough too because she's far too big for that little tiny puppy. Guess what? She sits aside and watches us play in the garden these days.  What a good girl she is !
watch patiently
You deserve lots of treats, Laura!
We're blessed to have  you, Laura!
Eva's 4th OB class
OB class was as usual. We learnt a new thing which was down from a stand position.
We also think that Eva has a favourite dog whom she likes a lot. She's Joey, a Golden Retriever pup who is 6 months old.
They seem to get along so well.
It's pure cuteness!
Our trainer also complimented us for doing our homework! LOL
How about some training pictures at home? All the dogs love training sessions where treats are involved. We even taught Laura to down, and I must say, she picked it up the first time! What a clever old girl!
Waiting for their turn!
LOL, who's next?
